Busy heaven – Sűrű mennyország
Three men were standing in line because they wanted to get into heaven (mennyország). It had been a pretty (eléggé) busy day, so St. Peter had to tell the first man: “Heaven’s getting very full (kezd tele lenni) today, and I must ask the people about their death (halál). If you had a terrible death, I can let you in (beengedni). So what’s your story?”
The first man replies (válaszolni) : “Well, for some time (egy ideje) I have suspected (sejteni) my wife had a lover (szerető) and she was cheating on (megcsalni vkit) me. So today I came home early because I wanted to try to catch (elkapni) her with the man. As I came into my apartment (lakás) on the 25th floor (emelet), I could tell something was wrong. I started to search the place. I did not find anybody in the flat. Finally, I went out to the balcony, and there was a man and he was hanging off the railing (korlát) , 25 floors above ground (föld felett)! By now I was really mad. I started to beat (ütni) him and kick (rúgni) him, but he wouldn’t fall off. So finally I went back into my apartment and I got a hammer (kalapács) . I started to hammer on his fingers. Of course, he couldn’t stand (nem bír) that for long, so he let go (elengedni) and fell. But after 25 stories, he fell into the bushes (bokor) and he was okay. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I ran into the kitchen and I took the fridge, and threw it over the edge. It landed on him and he died instantly (azonnal). But because of all the stress I had a heart attack (szívroham) and died there on the balcony.”
“That sounds like a pretty bad day to me,” said Peter, and he let the man in heaven.
The second man came up and Peter explained (elmagyarázni) to him about heaven and about the many dead people and again he asked for his story.
“It was a very strange (furcs) day. I lived on the 26th floor of my apartment building, and every morning I did my exercises out on my balcony. Well, this morning I slipped (megcsúszni), because I fell over the edge (vmi széle). But I was lucky, and I caught the railing of the balcony on the 25 th floor. I knew I couldn’t hang on for very long, when suddenly (hirtelen) a man ran out onto the balcony. I thought he would save me but he started to beat me and kick me. I held on until he ran into the apartment and he grabbed (megragad) a hammer. He started to hit my hands. Finally I let go, but I was lucky and fell into the bushes. When I was thinking I was going to be okay, this refrigerator (hűtő) fell on me out of the sky and now I’m here.”
Once again, Peter thought that sounded like a pretty horrible death.
The third man came to the front of the line, and St. Peter asked for his story.
“Imagine (elképzelni) this,” said the third man, “I was hiding (elbújni) inside (bent) a refrigerator…”
