If / in case használata

If / in case

pl.: Keep some extra batteries and bottled water on hand … in case there is an earthquake.

pl.: Use the batteries and bottled water …if there is an earthquake.

Buy a fire extinguisher … in case there is a kitchen fire
Use the fire extinguisher … if there is a kitchen fire.

Have a first-aid kit on hand … in case you cut yourself.
Use the first-aid kit … if you cut yourself.

Feladat if / in case:

1. Mary might phone this evening. I don’t want to go anywhere (in case/ if) she phones.

2. Kate should tell the police (in case/ if) her bicycle is stolen.

3. I hope you’ll come to Paris sometime later this year. (in case/ if) you come, you can stay with us.

4. This letter is for Mary. Can you give it to her (in case/ if) you see her?

5. Write your address on your suitcase (in case/ if) you lose it.

6. Go to the lost property office at the airport (in case/ if) you lose your bag.

7. The alarm will ring (in case/ if) somebody tries to break into the house.

8. I’ve just painted the bench. I’ll put a WET PAINT notice next to it (in case/ if) somebody doesn’t realise it has just been painted.

9. I was advised to arrange travel insurance (in case/ if) I needed hospital treatment while I was abroad.
