I always knew that I take after my father. We have the same eyes, the same hair and many other features. But I feel lucky that my personality is totally different. He was always too strict. Back when I lived at home, he used to take me to school. He always took away my cell phone as he thought it was not necessary to have it at school.
Once when I failed one of my test as a punishment he made me take down on a piece of paper that that was the last time I had not prepared properly for an exam and I would not go out any more. Luckily he took that one back and at least at the weekends I could visit my friends.
There was an other interesting story. I had a classmate. We looked alike and once my father took me for him and thought I was smoking. He was sure that he saw me. He was waiting for me in the living room that day. I tried to explain that it was not me who he saw but he just simply did not want to take in what I was saying. He took me out of my school and he made me go to a Catholic school instead. It took me a while to take to that school. But I made some new friends and after a while it was okay.
Some years passed and my grandfather died. This was the time when everything changed. He had to take over my grandfather’s business and took on all the work and he did not spend so much time at home which was a relief for me. There was nobody at home to tell me when to take off my shoes, where to go, when to learn etc.
Now that I am older, I live at my own place. I took up couple new hobbies and I have something new in common with my dad. We both love sailing…
